Joanna Seivard surrealism piece
For my project, I'm going with watercolor and collage media. My shoebox originally contained the boot, some sunglasses, a New York metrocard, a CD, and a book I have called The Unofficial Guide to New York City. After drawing my shoebox arrangement, I added some surreal elements to the objects. It looks a little warped from the water on the paper. Hopefully I can flatten it out a little bit. I have some collaging already done, and I plan to do more for the background. That's why I chose watercolor: it gives a smooth look, without texture, so I can balance it with a busier background. I started to add some of the pieces for the background, but unfortunately ran out of glue :/ Let me know what you think!
Rad x 5000 :D I love the colors on the CD and in the heel thing of the boot with the flames, that's awesome! Maybe you could add more darks behind the objects in the front to make the objects really pop more than they already do!
ReplyDeleteFrom the image it looks like you took a photo of real objects stacked upon one another, very good detail and composition.
ReplyDeleteCan I just say that I LOVE the sunglasses? Really cool idea. Also, the text on the book looks really well done. Maybe you could add some white highlights to the shoe (with like acrylic or something?) I like the idea of collaging photos in the background-- are you going to use ones that you've taken of the city?
ReplyDeleteLove how you can see the brushstrokes throughout the shoe! I also think the sunglasses are pretty amazing. I think that once you finish collaging the background it's going to be even better.
ReplyDeleteSunglasses are so cool!!! My main suggestion is to define the objects better, especially the ones you want to stand out more than others. Cool work so far. :)
ReplyDeleteJust work on finishing the background and maybe add more values in the girls hair and perhaps the shoe a bit too and then I think you'll be golden! I love the galaxy sunglasses and the girls nose- so on point!
ReplyDeleteThe movement is incredible! A clear focal point. Do you think you might be able to add just a slight tint of color into the shoe? The book is absolutely amazing. I got really confused for a second and the book looks CRAZY realistic.
