Inspiration is this guy, live model study Split coffee for the accident portion. Pencil, charcoal, and marker for the rest. My struggles include finding the correct placement for the color splotches, and adding value to the face. Lets play a game called spot the focal point? Advice for the the background? Face?

  1. When I look at this piece, I'm drawn to the face because of the white in the background, and I follow the path of the color to ultimately end up at the circled x. I like the movement in the background with the lines and the coffee. Everything is so interesting to look at, and the realism in the face is insane. Great values in there too. Awesome job!

  2. Really love this! I love how you have just enough coffee spills in the right areas so it's not taking over the entire piece. When I look at the piece I'm automatically drawn to the face values just like Asia. I also agree with her on the path followed. I really like the contrast between the charcoal and marker. You did great!

  3. I see the face as the focal point. The values and details are really great. I love how it's the only part not covered in coffee; I think there's a lot of meaning there. Awesome job!

  4. The face is defiantly the focal point just because it's probably so stand out-ish from being mostly white. I love the highlights and contrast in the face and the coffee spills mixed with pops of color in the background. The overall movement is just so cool!
