Theme Idea

My theme is going off of what I did last year, which is a study and focus on interior design and architecture. I love both of these subjects and I'm having a hard time picking which one to focus on because these two ideas go off of one another. The two main materials I'm using for my theme are watercolor and pen, but I started adding watered down acrylic to finish the project. Also, last year I started trying to incorporate nature into my projects but I wanted the nature to mean something. I want the plants and backgrounds to have some special meaning to me whether its a cactus or palm tree to represent Arizona and my comfort zone, but I don't want the nature to look like it was just thrown into the project for detail. Another thought to add into my theme is that I wanted each project to connect to each other through my own dream home. I had the idea last year to create one house as a whole and then each project was a specific room and it was shown at a view that meant something to me.

  1. Maybe you could include both blueprint type and design sketches alongside each other in your portfolio and then translate them into bigger finished pieces. That way you could show your thought processes for each design, but also show what all your interests are. Also I think that house idea you mentioned is super, because you could really relate the pieces to one another that way.

  2. Maybe you could mash the two ideas together? Do a lot of planning sketches of how you can incorporate the plants in the types of designs, make sure you have enough space to think of new ideas with each project!

  3. That comment above was Miranda Tretter FYI. I was thinking about how you can incorporate Arizona into your theme, what about...Modern interior and exterior architecture with that incorporates Arizona plants and places as an inspiration. We can make it less wordy but something like that?????
