Hey there, my sweet egg children. Here we are with INSTALLMENT EIGHT! This picture is a take on The Night Watch by Rembrandt, specifically, a zoom in on the front three men, but as CHICKS in like, I dunno, some hip modern girl gang. It's my theme, the one and only, ERAS OF WOMEN IN TRADITIONALLY MALE COMPOSITIONS.
The infamous chicken from the painting has been featured as well.
I love that chicken.
ANYWAY. My questions are: What the dink should I do with the background? I want to give it a settling similar to the original painting, but I'm unsure of how to do so. Annnd should I darken the middle girl's skin? It's a bit more pigmented in person, but it's no where near as pigmented as Blue Haired Babe's skin is.
I really like the bold line work of your characters. And you were able to create a nice sense of depth and value with their forms as well. As for the background, I would try to possibly take more inspiration from the painting. It was pretty dark with some more figures in the background, so putting that in context with your piece could yield some interesting results. I can notice you already have what appears to be a crescent shaped moon back there which already would allude to the original painting's title.
ReplyDeleteThat chicken is amazing. I think it would look really cool if you made a super dark background- then the figures would pop
ReplyDeleteI think a dark background would look cool with it. Also, I love that chicken.
