This is my first theme piece: Mythological creatures in intricate detail inspired by a significant word. This one is Freedom. It's a mixture of collaged tissue paper for the wings, paint, ink, and dry brushing. The creature is a Faerie, a winged being said to be mischievous but mostly harmless. Faeries can be dangerous when mad, but get along with almost anything. They are highly curious and can be considered a symbol of good luck.

Theme Project #1
My first theme project I am creating a introduction into my dream home. I was debating changing the color of the floor inside the house, but have kind of grown on it. Also, I was wondering if I should make it night time in my picture so people could be able to see inside the side windows, or making it daytime and the sunlight shining on the windows so you can't see in. Any suggestions?

Theme Project One
Okay well it's safe to say I'm not 75% done, but can you blame me? I definitely bit off more than I could chew for this project. I started to color mostly because I wanted everyone to see how it would look, but also because my eyes were hurting from all of that line work.
The thought behind this was a woman/siren being drowned or something like that. If it reminds you of something else that's cool too. The hair is supposed to be water like and I'm going to use turpenoid to give some parts of it a water-y feel.
What do you guys think I could do before I reach the point of no return?
Theme Piece!
Hey guys! This is Renee! My theme is "An Exploration of societal pressures and their effect on youth." Basically it is kids growing up too fast and the social pressures put on kids nowadays that seriously effects them. This is my first piece. My "love letter" said that my heel had some good values and the texture on the teddy bear. I am adding some more texture to the wooden floor, finish the makeup on the floor, adding a pearl necklace to the bottom left corner on top of the makeup area. I also think there might need more lights everywhere. What do y'all think?
First Theme Project!
Good evening! For my theme, I decided to do "An exploration of architecture and organic forms using an impressionistic style". For the first project, I decided to do a watercolor, ink, and charcoal piece of the German castle Neuschwanstein that I visited this summer.
To finish it, I plan to ink in all the windows on the castle and add more dark values. I may journal in ink on the sky about my trip there and information on the castle. Thoughts? Also, what else could I do to finish it?

Theme Piece 1
Hey pals! This is my first theme piece of the twelve. Hope it doesn't look like crap.
This is the first character (and the central one) in this crazy novel idea I have called Letters From A Thief. And...this is the thief. Yeah. So as a little background, this story takes place in a quasi-dystopian future that rebuilt itself after a nuclear war. The world was divided into seven sectors named after colors (because I'm SOOOOO creative...). North America, now the White Sector, is the prevalent superpower in the world and watches over citizens with genetically altered super soldiers. Whoo.
ANYWAY. This is the main character, a thief who goes by "The Black Fox" and operates out of the White Sector. The story is basically that she gets involved in a plot to find a massive outlet of treasure and a bunch of people get in her way.
I was told today to add a few more values, and I did somewhat. I could probably use more lights, but I don't really have the means to do so at home. Other than that, how can I make this look a little more polished (to put it nicely)?

Accident Project- Madison
MSo this is my charcoal drawing of some attractive man. For the "accident" part I used lipstick, blush, eyeliner, and nail polish to create a hyper feminine patter. I wanted to have this project sort of question gender normality by having manly man type dude juxtaposed against a very "girly" pattern. I think to bring him out more I will watercolor a halo type outline around him in pink. I also plan to fade his chest and hair at the tips. One last thing, is it just me or are some of his proportions like his nose and mouth are a bit off? Also is there any other way I can make it so he doesn't look so blended into the background?

Kristen Accident Project
To trash it I crumpled it up and then ripped it and poured some nail polish remover on it. I contoured the objects with pencil then used water color and went back over with charcoal to add darks.
GStoute Accident Project
So here's my project, it's an acoustic guitar with an amplifier done with acrylic paint and charcoal. The paper was crumpled for the layer 1 accident and paint was splattered as part of layer 2. I was going for a rougher design that is more care free. I was wondering if i should make the guitar less transparent or if i should do more with the background. Any advice would be appreciated.
The Accident Project
Anna D
This lovely piece of... something... is my accident project. I always had a special bond with toilets and bathrooms because of my job in sanitation. I used hot, liquid, lemon jello to simulate urine and hot chocolate to look like the splatter marks of something I would see at work (if you can imagine and put that and this together. You get the picture). I used India Ink and brushed it on with a watercolor brush.
I struggled with getting the papers to stick to the projects because I realized too late that the paper I used was not rice paper (thus the smears of the bottom toilet). I tried to incorporate it to getting movement in by using the floating toilet papers up to the focal point of an exploding toilet. I have been told it is "very Anna."
Do you think I could've brought out my focal point more with the blue? I felt the images looked like clip-art so I tried not to make it complex but I'm not sure how successful I was.
What's your opinion on the movement? Is it obvious enough? My mother said she didn't see it (but she's not an artsy person to my knowledge) but I feel I was able to get the eye to follow across the page to the focal point.
And do you think I could have gone more detailed with the toilets or that it's fine the way it is? I just wasn't sure how successful I was at trying to find that "happy medium."
Thanks guys!
accident project
My background was done with two different colors of lipstick, which I used to make the harsh lines. My subject was figure drawing, but I wish I had rethought that due to the size of the paper: I ran out of space, so I feel like the proportions are off. Let me know if you guys think that is a problem! Unfortunately kind of difficult to fix at this point... I did the figure in charcoal pencil and made some highlights in blue watercolor to contrast with the lipstick. I also used some black because the clothes were black in my photo. The scarf on the figure was intended to be the focal point so I added more colors in addition to the blue, but looking at it now, I see the blue runoff on the left side as the real focal point. This project was very much an accident for me! To finish up, I put some black watercolor to make the figure stand out, and dripped blue watercolor to add a rainy effect. Sorry this is so long. Let me know what you guys think.
Accident Project - Mira
So here is my project (sorry the photo is kind of blurry). I first created the background by painting a solid pink wash with beet juice. I spent wayyy too much time over break making an actual gingerbread house, so I figured that I might as well incorporate it into my art project. I drew the house using watercolor pencils, and then colored the snow using pastels. I’m having trouble with the snow- I’m not completely sure what colors to use to create values/add depth (greys? blues?). Thanks.
Asia's Accident Project
Hey everyone, this is my accident project. I was inspired by an artist by the name of Russ Mills, who focused on drawing people and faces in a surreal, expressive way. I decided to do my own self portrait, and try to incorporate some of his style (the expressive lines, exploding beanie) with my own personal style. I like the simple red, black and white color scheme, and the way the values look on the skin. Do I need to push them anymore (like the lights) and how can I make the movement (the path around the face and to the beanie) more prominent?
Inspiration is this guy, live model study Split coffee for the accident portion. Pencil, charcoal, and marker for the rest. My struggles include finding the correct placement for the color splotches, and adding value to the face. Lets play a game called spot the focal point? Advice for the the background? Face?
Sienna Proctor Accident Project
This piece was inspired by a buddha statue that I have in my room. For the accident portion I used lipstick and toothpaste, I do like the texture that I created using these two materials. The hand For the drawing portion I was planning on using ink, watercolor and marker. I found that with the watercolor it smeared the ink and wouldn't stay on top of the toothpaste. Should I add watercolor anyway and just let it smear or let it be? I also liked the idea of the simple background look which is why I didn't have anything much but I was wondering should I add something little to the background? If so what should it be? Thanks for the help!
Jarod Fountain Accident Project
Here is my accident project! My main goal and intention was to create the two very abstract and separate sides of me as a person. I tried to influence a ton of color and vibrance with the left, as i made the right more dominantly black and edgy. Let me know if you can clearly see the part I had spent extra time on and put more detail within. Also, I am wondering if there is anything I could have done with the empty space of my chest and also within the upper left hand corner of the project (if at all I need anything to fill the space). Thank you!
Sofija Chroneos- Accident Project
So I made a series of stains from beet juice that I thought resembled flowers, so I got the idea to make this sort of metamorphosis garden scene where the beets grow into flowers around the original stains. The layer after the beet juice was an outline of the scene with calligraphy ink, and the third and final layer was watercolor and colored pencil. My greatest struggle was displaying a variety of values with limited colors, as well as keeping the ink from smudging. My greatest success was probably the vibrancy of the piece as a whole. Also, I'm not sure how valid this is, but could the focal point be the entire lower area with the beets, or should I somehow place focus mainly on the center beet? Does the movement of the flowers provide this on its own? Thanks!
