Theme Idea

My theme is going off of what I did last year, which is a study and focus on interior design and architecture. I love both of these subjects and I'm having a hard time picking which one to focus on because these two ideas go off of one another. The two main materials I'm using for my theme are watercolor and pen, but I started adding watered down acrylic to finish the project. Also, last year I started trying to incorporate nature into my projects but I wanted the nature to mean something. I want the plants and backgrounds to have some special meaning to me whether its a cactus or palm tree to represent Arizona and my comfort zone, but I don't want the nature to look like it was just thrown into the project for detail. Another thought to add into my theme is that I wanted each project to connect to each other through my own dream home. I had the idea last year to create one house as a whole and then each project was a specific room and it was shown at a view that meant something to me.

Sofija's Theme

A) Since last year, my main inspiration for my theme has been researching the scientific principles behind how the human mind works, delving into both the logical and spiritual/creative theories behind the existence of a soul. My main goal this year is to define (in my opinion) what makes us human (the soul, the mind or both). I am also very interested in the work of painter Maurice Prendergast.

B) Abstracted definitions of the human mind that delve into the scientific and historical theories of the existence of a soul.

C) abstract expressionism studied through a variety of mark making techniques as well as portraiture.

D) Do you think my theme should have a more specific/clear direction?

Rachel's Theme #2

Hey-o! So my theme has changed a little bit since last year, I didn't pick a specific artist for my inspiration this time, but a couple of illustrations from a couple of fairy tales I enjoy. (The top two are from my favorite fairy tale book: Grimm's Grimmest.)
For now my theme is "Creating modern fantasy type characters using common archetypes in colored pencil and pen." Also should I add anything in the background of my piece? If so, what should I add? Also should I keep the frame yellow or should it be pink? Thanks guys!

Miranda's journal

This book is about my sister, what reminds me of her, and things we've done together.

I have two ideas for my cover (both unfinished) which do ya'll suggest?
What can I do to give it an all around less lame vibe??

Andraya's Journal project

My project is about my awesome ferret and the things he does on a daily when he's bored. He's always creating chaos, but he's a cool pet. Anyway the cover is basically the theme I use throughout the book. Do you think I should add in more colors? Or keep it the way it is?

Rachel's Journal :-)

Hey guys! So for my journal I decided to dedicate each page to a video game I play because I'm a really big nerd. From right to left it's Animal Crossing New Leaf, Pokemon, Shadow of Mordor, Kingdom Hearts, Until Dawn, and Final Fantasy Theatrhythm. I was away all weekend so I didn't get as much done as I would have liked to.

First if you know any of the games; what other doodles should I add to the pages? Then should I add more items like I did with the pokemon cards?

Taylor Mortensen
The theme is everything that goes along with running everyday (places, food I eat, results (gross feet))
I still have to add words and the first/ fourth page...actually have a bunch to do

Is there any ideas on actual items I could put on/in the book that would go along with the theme?
Do the pages look like they come together and are unified enough?

So here's my journal/sketchbook thing. I'm really proud of this I think it really reflects the theme that I'm trying to convey which is my daily life as a constant mess.
Q1: Do you think this reflects me?
Q2: What can I do to make this more interesting?
Thank you all!
<3 Claudia
These are the front and back of my project

I am wondering if I should change the teavana cup to black like on website

Also if I should use acrylic to go over some parts where the tea bleeds

Hayley's Journal Project

My journal is about my new born puppy named Kylo. The book starts from when he was born till now with the major growth differences on each page.
1. How to make Kylo's eyes stand out more when they are closed, You can tell in person but not in picture.
2. Ideas to add on the page because it looks plain compared to the rest? I need something to fill the page more
My idea is how to sydney. Pretty much what makes me. Me.I have 1page left for my conclusion i am wondering what i should do to pull it together. Something that when i do it youre like yea thats sydney. Should i also add more color to my pages.
So far i have: the basics, the look, relationships, attitude, and my cat.

Sean Jornal Project

My journal is tracking my progress and process of how I turn inspiration into a dress.
Questions:
1. How to the silhouettes or each of the page contents look?
2. Any pages I should improve?
3. Does the tracking pages look okay?

4. Are the thumbnails okay

Elizabeth's journal

I do my best to make 7 friends in the week. I was thinking for the back of the jornal to do either a collage of current pals and new friends or doodle all of my new pals in my style like the cover.

Also should i do more doodles for each friend

Journal Project

My book is inspired by my job taking care of fish at the med center. I'm incorporating my observations about the fish I feed into a series of life lessons (sort of in the format of a kids story.) I have yet to add the text into the journal, though I have been writing down my thoughts each day.
Questions:
1. Is there enough flow between pgs1/2?
2. Should I emphasize my focal points on each page with yellow watercolor?
3. Anything other thoughts for improvement would be appreciated!

Alexa's Journal

Ignore my inability to take a panorama and take a gander here at this book.

My journal experience basically covers my various fears-- some big ones. Aging, the phone, small spaces, blindness, feeling trapped, and dying.

I feel like a need the most help with the blindness page. How can I make it look less empty? Also-- On the last page, the death page, how can I make it seem more ominous?

Journal Progress

The story behind my book is the trip I took to France this past summer. The pages are just certain places or memories that stuck out to me when I was there.  I was wondering if I should try to make it more realisitic in the images? Also,  should I keep that much blue in the book, or should I try to make each page a different blue background? Thanks!
