Haley here! So to reiterate, my theme is "an exploration of architecture and organic forms using an impressionistic style".
For this project and the next, I'm doing Romeo and Juliet balcony scene esque paintings in watercolor with charcoal. I plan for the line and form of the windows to relate to the architecture while the flowers and people being the organic forms.
So as you can see, I'm not finished. I plan to add vines and flowers crawling up the windows, add a figure of a girl in the top left window, and dark values overall. I was thinking of adding another figure someone else in the painting. Thoughts?
Also, how does one do bricks in watercolor?
I'm always fascinated by how you get the watercolor to work in your pieces, it looks amazing. Darker values would do you good, and if the girl would be in the top left window then the other figure should probably be in the bottom right to balance the composition...I think.
ReplyDeleteDo the things you said you'd do and it'll look awesomer.
I think for the bricks you could just load the brush and use the shape it leaves to your advantage. If you're confused by my comment just ask me tomorrow in class, I just got off work so I'm having a hard time making sentences.
ReplyDeleteMaybe use a watercolor pencil, Charcoal pencil, or those fancy pencil things you talked about for the bricks. just a couple of lines here and there representing bricks could look cool. I did it on a project of mine if you want to see what I'm talking about. Maybe make the girl lighter or more detailed and then a guy leaning on the wall on the right bottom more shady like. Looks so pretty though and I'm excited to see what you do with it. It had this dark enchanting feel that is pretty awesome!
