Asia's Surreal Stuffs

Hey everyone! This is my surrealism project. Sorry if it's hard to see or anything, my phone was spazzing out and it didn't want to take a nice picture. I based my project off of the process of burning CD's (like putting music onto CD's from my music library) but in a literal kind of way. I wanted to know a few things. Does it look a bit too cluttered around the CD, and how can I make my focal point of the CD pop more? Thanks :D

  1. Maybe you could put a sort of glow or reflection on the CD to show that the flame it near it. Also, I would add some yellows to your flames to make them look brighter. Looks rad! Love the cat!

  2. I would try to figure out a way to incorporate those bright streaks that CDs get when they're reflecting light at different angles. Those could attract more attention to it as the focal point.

  3. The giant cat is what would happen if Chester the Cool Cat from elementary school guidance lessons had a baby with My Neighbor Totoro's cat bus.

More highlights on the CD reflecting the fire is pretty much the only major suggestion I have. Looks great so far!

  4. I don't think your project looks cluttered at all- it definitely has a lot going on, but it works! Adding white/yellow/orange highlights on the cd would probably help. The lettering is rad

  5. I like the idea that Gabe said, adding bright streaks to show the reflection on the CD. By the way the cat is perfect.

  6. I say look at a cd and really study the lights/darks, and reflections within it, and try to incorporate that into it to make it pop. Really great work!

  7. dem record values tho. I think you could add some more value to the fires and even consider putting some blues in at the bottom (as seen in most real fires). And instead of a harsh black line outlining the cats mouth you might want to consider just doing fur values, if you make the cat more realistic it will help make its swaggy and cartoony sunglasses pop more!
