This project was created as I was strongly inspired by the surrealism artist, Max Ernst. In many of his paintings there are mini figures throughout his pieces and also a lot of line usage. I thought I would just add more figures into this project and also finish the white spots of course. If i were to create a more bold outline, would it make sense for the largest most detailed creature to become the focal point? Thoughts? Suggestions?
If you wanted the colored in creature to be your focal point, I'd add something to him. I dont know if this is just me or not, but my eyes are fighting between the creature and the purple thing close to the center, just because those are the two things that most stand out against the background. You could push the darks behind the creature, and add more of the bright yellow highlights to it if that's the path you were headed. Awesome job, though, It looks sweet! :D
ReplyDeleteI would try to add more realistic depth and values to the main figure to make it stand out from the more cartoony line drawing figures. Other than that it has very creative design and has your style.
ReplyDeleteThis has such fever dream vibes.
ReplyDeleteKeep it colorful and keep it creative! I like the Children's Book feel this gives off-- try to run with that.
This has a really unique style- I really like how you painted the water/sky in the background. I definitely agree with Asia about the conflicting focal points; maybe if you darken the background a bit and add some white/yellow highlights to the creature that would help?
ReplyDeleteI love the background and all the different creatures! It's definitely your style. I agree with Asia and Mira about darkening the background of the creature and adding some white and yellow highlights.
ReplyDeletePush your highlights in the main figure to make it stand out more. Good work so far though, I think your style is great. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Gabe, that pushing some realistic values into the main figure would help it pop more. I also think that if the monocle (that's whats on his eye right?) was more white than black it would stand out more and help bring the figure to life a bit more. I love the little penned in figures by the way!
