Theme Project One

Okay well it's safe to say I'm not 75% done, but can you blame me? I definitely bit off more than I could chew for this project. I started to color mostly because I wanted everyone to see how it would look, but also because my eyes were hurting from all of that line work.

The thought behind this was a woman/siren being drowned or something like that. If it reminds you of something else that's cool too. The hair is supposed to be water like and I'm going to use turpenoid to give some parts of it a water-y feel.

What do you guys think I could do before I reach the point of no return?

  1. Looks good so far! Obviously finish it...but as for actual helpful advice (maybe) you could perhaps add varying values of green to the hair...but the linework kinda adds value on its own so it really depends on whether or not you want even more value.

Also since you wanted to have it like she was drowning, maybe put a very light blue wash over everything so it looks like she's underwater?

  2. Oooh, I like Jake's idea of the light blue wash over everything. But then again, Sirens were said to be immune to water since they often teamed up with the mermaids to drag sailors to their deaths.......

That linework though, it's so intricate and amazing. I absolutely love it.

  3. Your line work is crazy and amazing so far! I like how you added in the color too! I think the Jake's idea is really cool and I can't wait to see how you decide to finish this project! Keep pushing the values and I believe this project will turn out amazing! Good job!

  4. Sorry to repeat everything everyone is saying, but seriously impressive line work! Just keep going with it, as slightly painful (or maybe more than slightly) it may be. I think that in the end it will look amazing!
