Asia's Accident Project
Hey everyone, this is my accident project. I was inspired by an artist by the name of Russ Mills, who focused on drawing people and faces in a surreal, expressive way. I decided to do my own self portrait, and try to incorporate some of his style (the expressive lines, exploding beanie) with my own personal style. I like the simple red, black and white color scheme, and the way the values look on the skin. Do I need to push them anymore (like the lights) and how can I make the movement (the path around the face and to the beanie) more prominent?

Love this piece!! I think that overall your project looks and feels complete, just like what Miss.Brought said today. I love how you incorporated some hard edge & the values are crazy good! So insanely cool!!
ReplyDeleteWoah Asia, I really love this piece. Dem' values are what really surprise me and I think they are spot on. I only suggest and not am entirely confident over maybe adding subtle white lines within the hair to deepen texture and contrast. Overall, one of my favorites of yours!
ReplyDeleteI just really love this one. It feels really complete. The only thing I'd maybe think about adding would be some highlights to the hair. Other than that, it's crazy super fantastic with the values, style, and texture throughout. Great work!
ReplyDeleteI think you're done. It looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteSo rad. You have really great texture in both your face and in the background. Also the color scheme is perfect. Maybe you could darken the top of the right shoulder to give it some dimension (like you did with the left one).

ReplyDeleteLike I said before your self portrait looks like one of those ancient Egyptian paintings. So cool. I think you could add some minimal highlights to the nose and jaw area but I wouldn't do to much because the texture and tones in the face are already awesome!
ReplyDeleteAgain, I really like the concept, the color scheme, and exploding beanie! I also think the values along the neck and back of the face carries the movement. I also think the thing someone said yesterday about the background having movement along the border is true and works pretty well. I like it; great job!
ReplyDeleteI love this project so much! My favorite part is the shading on the hat and the texture of the shirt. Something to work on, though completely optional, is possibly adding more shading in the background like it was done behind the neck.
