Gstoute Theme Piece 5?

Hey sorry for the somewhat late submission. I've been having technical issues with connection. Anyway my piece is planned to be something that deals with the social issue of the need to use our available technology to physically change who we are naturally (plastic surgery and other operations etc.) This will be addressed through the conflict between the hands of a deity carrying human life as gloved hands below attempt to reach for it. I would appreciate any suggestions on what colors to use for my background as I have no idea what to put in it as well as how much realism I should put into the figures. (On a scale between picasso and da vinci).

Jfountain theme piece

So heres my theme piece! Considering my theme is Polychromatic expression of problems in todays world, i figured i woukd create a piece that centers around the fact that we are spending way too much money in searching for other planets and their habitats when we havent fully discovered our own planet. The only thing i need to add is a larger ship in the top right region and also all of my ink line work that is going over top of the ships. Does this piece have depth?  Should i add more ships or flyig space particles? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

My first variety piece! Yay! Okay so my plan for this is to show peace and calamity. I have glued down ever single page and divided in half. My next step is to carve out some holes and put balloons in them as if they are coming out of it. On the left side, colored balloons will be used. Some will be in the holes I carved and some will be blown up like its flying. On the other side, I will have black balloons and it'll be popped. I also plan on painting some red to so blood and evilness.
1. What are some tools I could use other than x acto knife to care into the pages?
2. How could I show flying balloons other than helium (cause it won't last long) and fish wire to hang it?

Theme 5 Sofija Chroneos

Hey guys, this is another piece centered around my theme of human consciousness and emotion. The idea behind this piece was to portray higher consciousness, or the aspects of consciousness we aren't aware of. I'm still working on filling in the people. Do you guys think drawing the two girls in graphite was a good idea? If not, what should I do instead? How can I bring interest/depth to the background?

Theme...5? 4? I lost track.

Hey all! Sorry for posting kinda late. Errands, musical, and whatnot. Excuses? Probably.

Anyways this is my next theme piece, regarding "Developing original novel characters through portraiture and diction." This is Zoltan Masters, the fourth (and final) "protagonist" character of the main party.

In the wonderfully shattered world of Letters From a Thief, if I didn't explain this already, the richest sector is ruled by a militaristic government called the Enforcers and a regime of supersoldiers called the Purveyors. If you want to know all about this crazy literary thinger that I'm creating, just ask me about it. I looooove talking about it. (I actually do that wasn't sarcasm.)

But like they always tend to do, black market traders got their hands on the serum that is used on subjects to turn them into Purveyors. They tampered with it and came up with a different result: beings called Weapons. I will get into the nitty-gritty of what Purveyors are once I get to the Purveyor character I'm painting, but know for now that they're super-good at killing things and enforcing stuffs. Weapons are different only in a few manners; they do not suffer from the same consequences that Purveyor's memory centers suffer, but they do gain a superiority complex. If one of them were to shed blood, they take it as a sign of weakness and imperfection, and go nutso crazy psycho. Hoorah.

But yeah, the main party comes across Zoltan during one of Draven's (project 2) assassination missions, and he's pretty much a foil to Ulysses. He's stern, cold, calculating, and ruthless, claiming that he can sense what someone is thinking and what they will do before they do it.

Yeah alright I should stop rambling on that section. Time to help me improve this shlock.
1) I know I need to layer up with more paint. Where should I do this? (don't say everywhere even though I know you will)
2) Too much blood?

I don't expect many comments since I'm posting this at about 10:30 PM, but I'll take what I can get. Happy arting! AND GO SEE THE MUSICAL.

so basically my theme is feminism and negative stereotypes against women shown through mythological creature and for this project i did a portrait of a faun. I'm trying to make her face masculine looking but be wearing really girly things and yeah bc women can't be strong and girly or something like that.

1. How do I get the hair to look more hair like while still maintaining my style?
2. Should I outline everything in black so it looks similar to the pieces I've done in pen and ink?

That's about it. I plan on adding flowers around the border of the oval and shading the skin and horns and then I'm done yo

theme 4

Hi okay so this is my thing trying to depict personal sadness, in whatever form it comes. My first question is what should i do with the hair? should i keep it weird an blue and fluffy or should i change it? and also is the top of it okay to be mostly blank or should i put a bit of color there or a quote or something?

Madison Theme Project 5?

So my inspiration for this project is from a Richard Avedon shoot in vogue. I'm planning to juxtapose my hyper-sexulized girls (or boys, who knows, you can't see their faces) with stretch marks made out of sparkles to make a statement about how beauty is perceived in society.   I also plan on sewing knit sweaters on them with the stitching above^ and painting the background in a light wash of lilac...
1. Is that stitch appropriate for a sweater kind of look? Plus should I use the same stitch for both sweaters (pink and yellow)
2. For the skirts I was thinking of sewing
in sequins but is that TOO much with the sparkly stretch marks and all?

Thanks!

My theme is designing interior rooms to create a modern dream home. This project is focused a fireplace in the main living room. I still need to fill in the windows and fireplace but I was wondering if I should add stone onto the fireplace wall?

New Theme Project

Hey guys! This is my next theme project (I realized after I did this one I want to do one inbetween my last one and this one for smoother transition). In this picture, ConnOr walked into the cave from the scene before to kinda explore and this is where it starts to turn nightmarish. I wanna add more dream pieces before it because I feel like it jumps in too quickly to the nightmare. Anyway, Im going to put white paint on the eyes so that they really pop (also they got smeared with black crayon when I added the turpenoid) and I wanna smooth the crayon out more because the actual project has a lot of crayon lines. Okay so here are my questions. How can I make that thing in the back look more like a door? And what can I do to make the blanket pop more? I reallllly want it to stand out. Thanks for any feedback ya give me!

Project 6

This is nothing like what I intended in my sketch, but I found it and edited it and wanted to use it for this project instead.  I think it goes along my idea for growth for the AP test to decrease the editing that I do.  I liked how the blue stood out and contrasted with the yellow at the bottom and the shadows.  I'm happy with how it is at the moment, but do you think it is too dark?  Also, do you think the blue is too bright?

Mythology Theme: Demon Cat

Lily here~ Ugh. I think this is piece 5. Theme: Mythological Creatures with attention to detail, inspired by a significant word. Demon Cats are well known to look like sweet little creatures, and they're nearly impossible to tell apart from the real thing. However, when a bright light is shone on them, one can see two shadows on the wall. A headless body on one side, usually the left, and the head is on the right. It is said that the body will play with its victim, sort of like a cat plays with a mouse, until s/he is so terrified and paranoid that they won't leave their home. It is then that the head swoops in and consumes them. One can often find stains of blood on both the shadows and around the cat's mouth.

1) Any advice on painting cats?
2) My spotlight is weird. Help me with the stupid thing.
Hey guys! My theme is societal pressures and their effect on the youth. This is a car board box on a street with a brick wall behind it.  It is kinda hard to see but on the wall is written in graffiti text, "IT ALL ADDS UP" that will be lime green and I will paint details on the wall and box.  It represents this pressure that if you don't do well and continue not to do well that all it will all accumulate and snowball and lead you down the wrong path to possible failure.  So the box represents the extreme of homelessness that I think people fear because they fear not making enough money to support themselves if they don't make the correct decisions or put in the work.  I realize this is long as I'm writing it.... Anyway, questions: should I add things to the street around it or on the wall? I think it is coming off crafty and not, well, nice looking.  Also, Should the words be in lots of colors or just one? Thanks to those who read through all this :)

Sienna Theme Piece

My theme is urban landscapes through graffiti and expressive line; I've decided to add a more personal touch that I'm going to be doing places that have meaning to me or a memory associated with it.
Since I was gone for a few days I'm behind as shown. For this piece I'm referring back to a picture I took the first time I ever went to NYC. The viewpoint is looking from the inside of a train window btw the graffiti inside the window will be bright to convey my excitement. The building will be filled in with black hatching and will be pretty simple.
Where the pebble/rocks are is a fence, I'm gonna draw that once I finish the whole piece but I was wondering should I add the fence in a thick acrylic so that it stands out? Also should I keep my idea of the black hatching of the buildings or should I add some color, if so what colors?!Thanks!

Ok so here's my project.. My theme is the act of leaving so this is the aftermath, so to speak, of someone being left. I am planning on adding more detail to the eyes, some redness to the cheeks, and to lighten up the shoulders. My question to the masses is what can I do to just like finish it up... and should I go in with a lighter blue in the background?

Theme Project

So here are a couple of clips from the video I plan on making.

(there are way more clips, but I haven't finished edited them yet). Also please ignore the sounds in the clips. When the video is finished there will be music playing in the background.

Ok, so for this project I wanted to create a video based on a memory from my childhood. For as long as I can remember, my mom has baked challah (braided jewish bread) on Fridays. So far I have filmed individual clips (there are more clips of my mom measuring out the ingredients). So yeah.
What kind of music should I put in the background? I was thinking frenchy music.

Also, does anyone have any ideas of clips I could include? I plan on filming someone cutting into the bread and then maybe serving it on a plate? Let me know what you think.

theme piece 2nd part - Emma

hey everyone so this is the second part to the two project theme pieces!! I'm thinking of doing pen and ink in the background and journaling some stuff...but I'm not sure. what do you guys think?

also, I might make the background really dark against the parrot so the parrot will start to pop out.
Do you guys think I should keep the same color scheme? thanks!

last theme piece

This is my last and final piece for my theme area! Sorry it took so long for me to post it. I wasn't able to work on it earlier and I just finished these two areas. This will be a cookie jar and everything is low relief carving on a wheel thrown piece. I plan on touching up and smoothing over the rough edges after I completely finish! Two questions, 1. What can I do around the rim area to make it not look weird without having to carve away at it? and 2. What other details could I put onto the fish or flower to make it stand out more? Feel free to say anything that you suggest! Thanks!
Hi guys! My theme is societal pressures effecting youth.  The white square is a cell phone and it has a conversation between 2 4th grade girls about frivolous stuff that 4th graders shouldn't be talking about like guy issues. I was thinking of doing a pen and ink doodle design in the background of the convo. What do you think? I was also thinking of doing the whole thing in black and white except have one message be in color. Again, what do you think? Thanks!

theme project #3

My theme is designing rooms to create a dream house and I'm focusing on interior design which is basically interior architecture. This piece is a kitchen that I came up with inspiration of other modern kitchens! I was wondering if I should add anything under the kitchen counter in the front of the project? I originally had a stool but I felt like it just didn't look right. Also, I was wondering what colors to use? I like sticking with grays, white, bright green, and brown. Any suggestions?

gstoute theme 4

Unfortunately due to a high work load this week, I have not been able to allocate as much time to my piece as I would have liked. So this isn't exactly at 70% completion (and the poor photo quality doesn't help much either). Anyway this piece is a continuation of my previous piece which brings solders of different eras together to show how technology has impacted the way America has fought its battles. This piece jumps straight ahead into the 20th century and beyond. From left to right the figures are a soldier from WW2, a soldier from the war in Iraq, and a Air Force officer who pilots a drone. Compared to the tan background of my previous piece, this one presents a darker gray setting. Taking inspiration from Sofija's recommendation on my last piece, I will implement the silhouettes of smoke stacks and explosions in the backgrounds of the figures with a slightly darker water color pigment. I plan on making the density of such background noise decreasingly dense as the figures are closer to the modern era. Are there any other ideas that may help strengthen the piece's meaning? Any ideas on how to make the soldiers stand out more from one another(As the attire hasn't changed as drastically as it did in my other piece)?

Hey, Anna here. So my piece is sideways and won't let me type text below it but I've been having problems with this so I'm just glad this is working. Anyway, this is a reverse painting that mirrors the painting the painting turned in for the last assignment. My theme is something along the lines of Surreal Stories about Creatures of All Realms and the story here is about a battle between the two men but in reality, it's the same guy, reflecting the idea of fighting yourself and being your own worst enemy. I've been experimenting with textiles, specifically fur, so we'll see how it goes. With my experimenting at home and the watered down acrylic for these two projects, I'd like to eventually experiment with watercolor. As for this project, do you think I should change up the drips for this one or nah? And do you think I could possibly make this more surreal (if it's not surreal enough as it is; I'm not entirely sure)? It's gotta be deep/symbolic though so I can't just throw a pig or something on there just 'cause. Thanks!

Theme #4- Sofija Chroneos

Hey there! This is another colored pencil piece expressing how emotions and consciousness relate. The idea behind this one is to express that certain emotions, when kept hidden, can control a mental state. The purple part is brain matter (shown from a different angle in the last piece.) Oh, and the colors are blocked in more clearly in person, and also I haven't quite decided if the figure's face will be of a different design than its body- (or whether it will have features.) Overall, I was wondering if you guys have any ideas about what I can do to make the figure stand out more from the background? Should I bring in any other materials give the piece some depth? Any other advice is welcome! Thanks!

JFountain Co-Theme piece

Ok so, basically in response to my previous project with the hobo, jagged lines, and watercolor background, this project is basically the opposite in that there is soft colored pencil and regular pencil lines throughout the piece, i intend on continuing to ink outline the major lines of the piece and also making the smoke from the cigar light and controlled unlike the hobos cigarette which was filthy and all over the place. Lemme know if you see anything missing that I could add. Also, does he look like Bill Gates?

How do you feel?

So my theme is 'expressing psychology and raw emotion through surrealism'. This piece is supposed to be representative of how confusing and abstract feelings are and such. On the black bar I'm planning on writing 'how do you feel?' On it and then stitching the words on the canvas. I really only have one question and it's, how can I make it feel more confused?

Claudia

ANother theme piece

honestly i haven't had time to work on this. I had a fiasco with my ink not drying on this paper. so yeah I'm planning on banging this out over the extended weekend when I'm able to get a sufficient amount of sleep.

this is a jinmenken with is a human/dog spirit from japan that runs along highways and if you come up it it asks you to leave it alone

yu[

project 4 theme

Hi okay so this is the second half of my project. The thing i'm trying to get at with this and my last project was, probably more graphic than it needed to be, giving your hands a break. Yeah. they're supposed to be hands. My first question is how in the heck are you supposed to know those things are hands? And my second question is the thing holding them is wooden. Help. Me.

Theme Piece 3

Theme: An exploration of architecture and organic forms using an impressionistic style.

For this theme piece, I choose my subject matter to be a window seat I saw in Spain. The media I am using includes charcoal, ink, and watercolor paints.

For the rest of my themes, I wrote about the history of a certain building. But for this, it's just some random window. So, what could I journal about in the piece that ties this together with the rest of my theme?

Also, should I just finish in charcoal? I started with watercolor and ended up not liking it at all.

Theme Project Numero 4

Hey guys! This is my next theme piece, showing the little boy character (I really should give him a name. It should be ConnOR) popping through the dream cloud from the last piece and entering the dream would full of dreamlike things. I tried to push my darks to make things stand out, but where should I push them more? And do you think I should add something of the left side of the piece? It kinda feels empty to me. Thanks!

Madison Theme project 4

My intention of this piece was to have a slightly shaded portrait similar to my last project (girl with embroidered tears). I originally was planning to have more dramatic shading in charcoal but then decided against it when the medium just wasn't working well with the ricepaper. I'm planning to go ahead and plaster my rice paper on my canvas tomorrow and goldleaf her lips and bobby pins over the weekend. Do you think I need more shading or is it simplified enough not to? Also I think I may do an all red background or a pattern or something? And suggestions on that? Thanks children!

Theme Project #4

Here is my project so far. It is basically an extension of last week's project, where I continue to explore photo transfers. The top image is a photo I took/edited of a macaron. I plan to transfer this photo onto the sliver of wood pictured below. Should I edit the photo further before I complete the transfer, or is the image basically done? Also, once the photo is on the wood, should I add another layer on top (maybe dry-brush around the edges to add texture?) Let me know what you think. Thanks

Mythology piece: Merman

Lily~ Meh. I'm kind of happy with this piece. Theme: Mythological creatures with attention to detail, inspired by a significant word. The hand wasn't big enough in the beginning and that threw the entire set of proportions off. Oh well. Ignore my cat. He photo-bombed. And yes, the white stuff is bone. I know I have a weird look on magical creatures. Just ignore it. If you think this is weird........

Q1) Should I add more blood to the water?
Q2) How should I work the tail. I like it, but it needs something else.

Theme Piece 3

The next character for my theme, "Developing original novel characters through portraiture and diction" (I think my wording changes every time because I always forget what it is).

This is Ulysses Smith, and he's the third of the four "protagonists" of Letters from a Thief. In this novel I'm trying to create very deep characters with dynamic personalities, altering mindsets and motives, and an overall sense of complexity.

Ulysses is not one of those characters. He's a buff dude with a cybernetic arm that loves 'Murica. That doesn't really change. He's comic relief in a way. But the other comrades he's gotten to know understand that they can't live without him. Or so they keep telling themselves.

Anyway, obviously it's unfinished. I still need to put up some 'Murica related quote and layer up some areas (read: everything ever). I added a black outline to basically everything to sorta make the style of this one seem more like a comic book character, and that's basically what Ulysses is.

Questions are...
1) Was the black outline a good idea?
2) Should I add more dark values? If so tell me where.

Well, have at it. And maybe while I search through the parts of the novel I've written already with his lines, you guys could think of something goofy and 'Murican for the quote to be if I don't find anything.

EDIT: I actually did find something for the quote in the chapters I've already written. I edited it a little to make it flow a bit...and omit the vulgar language.

"Do you know what this flag means? It belonged to the greatest country on this planet! It represents liberty, life, and happiness to everyone who lives on the soil it flies over! It belonged to AMERICA!"

Theme Project 4 - Sienna

For this piece I was inspired by the New York City skyline and also the graffiti movement. I am planning on adding cool colors on the rest of the skyline and then adding more expressive lines to the skyline as well.
Q1 - I'm planning on adding white on to the building for highlights, but should I add white to the outline of the skyline rather than black so it stands out more?
Q2 - For the building I'm using a cool color scheme, should I do watercolor with this or oil pastels?
Thanks

Act of Leaving theme piece

(adding second progress picture)

Okay so theme is act of leaving. Figures will be in color- via acrylics.
Question 1- should I bring color into the background or nah?
Question 2- Tell me things about them proportions.

Theme Project 4

Here is my next project.  It too was taken at the top of the Empire State Building.  The lighting from the time of day did most of the work for me, but I still enhanced the contrast and saturation.  With this one, I liked how the city lights were just starting to come on that evening, but the lights were muted because it was still light out.  Do you think the buildings are defined enough, and don't blend into each other?  I'm happy with how this one looks and consider it basically done, but let me know if you think it should be any brighter or maybe tinted or something like that.  Thanks

Mira- Theme Piece #3.

Displaying IMG_1746.JPG

Here is my current theme piece. Because my theme is exploring memories with food, I attempted to capture the essence of a faded photograph by using a photo transfer technique. First I baked the cookies (they are macarons), then I took a photo, edited it in photoshop, and transferred it into wooden squares. Unfortunately, the photo quality is kind of bad, so in real life they are much brighter. The top square is in black and white, and they progressively fade to color. Should I attach these in some way? Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of connecting them from a chain so they would hang vertically (as pictured above). Also, do you think I need to add another layer of paint, maybe drybrushing over the scratches? Thanks.

Theme piece

My bad for being so late with this I kinda had my wisdom teeth pulled out oops. My theme deals a lot with psychology and mentality and stuff like that and this piece is supposed to be representative of depression and coping and stuff like that. Obviously it's not finished due to my face being sort of torn apart but it will be done. I only have a few questions. First off This piece is a fresco and I'm having a hard time mixing the color blue with my egg tempera. Any suggestions? I'm also wondering what y'all think I should use in my background. I want it to be kinda plain but I'm not quite sure how to execute it.

Thanks!

Theme Project 3 - Asia

Hey guys! The intention of the second piece I have in my theme is to show the male character in my series being pulled into the dream world by a sprouted dream seed. It's a metaphor for falling asleep. I wanted to add some details to the could up above his head, but Im not entirely sure what to do there. What should I draw up there? Should I just shade? Or should I add objects to further push the surrealism meant to be in it? Thanks for the feedback!

Theme Piece 2

Heyo! This is piece number 2 of my theme, which I suppose is "Developing a cast of original novel characters through portraiture and diction." Somebody flag me down if the wording is trash.

This character is Draven Law, a contract killer and the deuteragonist of the series. His main deal is that he's made a lot of mistakes in his life, but he continues his job as a murderer for hire to basically set an example of what not to be. His motives are pretty muh a mystery throughout the novel, so all you really need to know is that he travels around with The Black Fox and has dumb adventures. Whoopie.

Question time. I doubt I could ever do anything to make me think it looks good, but I digress. Basically does the background need more value? And is everything decent on the character himself? Lemme know and at least try to act like responding isn't required for a grade.

EDIT: Got the picture to finally show up. I know I'm gonna lose points anyway. Just what I needed right now, technology. Just what I needed.

Theme Piece Two

My theme includes impressionism with places that I've visited. So for this thematic piece, I choose to do a watchtower that was in Germany. I used watercolor paint, ink, and charcoal so far. To finish, I need to add more values to the sky, journal about the place in ink, and add more dark values to the mountains and town. My intention is to create a dark and loose piece that shows the scrubby plants and how the watchtower goes with the organic growth. What else could I do to improve?
my theme is friends and family overcoming stereotyes . So here is my darling friend alex haidet and he is nerdy and geeky to be blunt, but there is so much more to him. So here he is with his three favorite games surrounding him but above him will be a speech bubble saying "why not have a conversation with me? ". Ok question time. Are the Game things to unoriginal? Will i get in trouble? BTW that's tape for clean borders. And how should i make it more like him?

Yo it's theme project number 2

Okay so my theme is like mythological creators and blah blah I don't know the exact wording off hand.  I'm not quite happy with what's going on with this right now. This is a Japanese demon that lives in public restrooms and kills you. Awesome right?
I think I'm going to use a different type of paper and put it over the  figure I have right now. I think I want my stuff to be more cutesy idk what do you guys think? Instead of a guy I want a Lolita looking girl instead too. Should I add cross hatching and hatching over this ?  I want to do my own interpretations of the myths instead of drawing it exactly.  Also i want my projects  to me more female centered.

Hi all! My theme is based on societal pressures on youth. In this I am focusing on the pressure to win. There is a pen and ink letter of recognition written in the back. Then watercolor. I am going to add pen and ink on top of the watercolor to emphasize the trash.  Do you think I should add medals hanging out of the trash bin? I also want to add "tear drops" on it going from the top down using watercolor and rubbing alcohol. I was thinking in black. What do you think?  I am also planning on crumbling it and unfolding when it is done to give it a "trash" look and possibly matting it. Thoughts? Thanks!

Mythology Theme 2 - Sky Dragon

Lily here. Theme: Mythological creatures with attention to detail inspired by a significant word. The word behind this piece is Grace. The swift movement and swift glide through the clouds impresses me and I often stop to watch the birds fly through the sky. I'm considering redoing the watercolor on the art and I want to know if I should watercolor the white clouds at the edge. I'd also like to know if I should add more clouds.
My theme is designing interior rooms to create a modern home. In this project I am showing a part of my dream living room and showing the backyard of where I see myself in the future. I was wondering if I should make it daylight outside so you can see the ocean and sand or to make it nighttime and add more light and value on the inside? Also, should I add furniture on the hardwood floors or would that be too distracting?

theme piece 2

My theme is demonstrating guilty pleasures with mixed media. This piece is one of two in my "love" series. This one is called making love. They're two realistic human hearts put together to make a "fake" heart 💙 still have to wrap string around to make it apear they're being pulled together.
1. Should I add something to make it appear glossy or nah
2. Should I leave it simple like the one side or add veins and stuff to make it like hardcore and hate myself. Idk
Also yolo. Peace out girlscout.
