Theme: An exploration of architecture and organic forms using an impressionistic style.
For this theme piece, I choose my subject matter to be a window seat I saw in Spain. The media I am using includes charcoal, ink, and watercolor paints.
For the rest of my themes, I wrote about the history of a certain building. But for this, it's just some random window. So, what could I journal about in the piece that ties this together with the rest of my theme?
Also, should I just finish in charcoal? I started with watercolor and ended up not liking it at all.
Really liking this, and holy crap you went everywhere didn't you? Charcoal would look really cool I think; you could probably stand to add more darks anyway. Also, maybe if you're into this kinda thing, you detail it with poetry? I dunno. Be all psychiatrist and ask yourself how the window made you feel and write it down. I really enjoy your work!
ReplyDeleteI like Jake's idea of poetry... not so much how the window made you feel but perhaps some hypothetical romeo-juliet window crap. You could always recite some Shakespearean sonnets or something. I think finishing it off with charcoal will look good (duh... charcoal is my bae) but i think you need to first layer up the color a tad more with another wash of watercolor.
ReplyDeleteYou could write about why you took the picture of the window or the history of the city that the building is in. I think finishing with charcoal would tie everything together!
ReplyDeleteI think you should finish the charcoal, it adds a really cool effect to your paintings and if could be a good way to tie all your pieces together!:) I also like the journaling idea!
ReplyDeleteI think it was brave to try with watercolors! You should definitely finish with the charcoal because it really brings out YOUR work! And for the journaling idea...maybe you can write about how you felt when you were in Spain when you saw the window?
ReplyDeleteThis kinda contrasts to the whole poetry idea but I thought it would be kinda cool if your wrote down the schedule you had for that day. It would kind of add a touch of how you happened upon the window and then you could explain why you thought it was kinda cool.
