A) Since last year, my main inspiration for my theme has been researching the scientific principles behind how the human mind works, delving into both the logical and spiritual/creative theories behind the existence of a soul. My main goal this year is to define (in my opinion) what makes us human (the soul, the mind or both). I am also very interested in the work of painter Maurice Prendergast.
B) Abstracted definitions of the human mind that delve into the scientific and historical theories of the existence of a soul.
C) abstract expressionism studied through a variety of mark making techniques as well as portraiture.
D) Do you think my theme should have a more specific/clear direction?
I really like how deep your theme seems to be and how you are doing pieces that not only relate to yourself but focus on humans as a whole. I am a little bit confused but what exactly your projects are going to look like but I'm sure once I see a piece I will be able to understand a little more! Keep going though because this seems like a pretty neat idea!!
ReplyDeleteI think your theme is going in a direction so I don't think you need to change anything. Your pieces always look so neat so I can't wait to see this one.
ReplyDeleteI also really like how deep your theme is and it will allow you to create different pieces. The direction I can not imagine right now either because there are so many things you can do. So maybe try to focus it down to a certain material or media you will use to keep it unified as a whole!
ReplyDeleteHey Sofija! My suggestions with the Abstract Expressionism aspect of your theme is to really, really get to know the Abstract Expressionists. That knowledge and background will help you to get to the next level with your own work. The more you spend time researching the more informed and deeper revelations you will have in your theme. At least that's what I found with my MFA. -Ms. B
