Theme Project 4 - Sienna

For this piece I was inspired by the New York City skyline and also the graffiti movement. I am planning on adding cool colors on the rest of the skyline and then adding more expressive lines to the skyline as well.
Q1 - I'm planning on adding white on to the building for highlights, but should I add white to the outline of the skyline rather than black so it stands out more?
Q2 - For the building I'm using a cool color scheme, should I do watercolor with this or oil pastels?
Thanks

  1. Lily~ I would hold off on the cool colors. This is a warm piece, so the addition of the other side of the spectrum might make it too chaotic. And I think the black on the skyline is a nice opposite from the white that you will be putting on the buildings.

  2. I really like the background pattern you have created. Did you use paint or marker to achieve those thin lines? I agree with Lily - keeping the skyline dark and simplistic is a nice contrast to the busy background. The drip effect that you already have is nice, maybe you could just bring parts of it down so there isn't so much negative space?

  3. AHH LOOK AT THIS. This is legit super cool, I love the lines and the movement and that pattern and those colors. I like the black against the warm colors, it looks nice. And for the bottom part, I'd probably go with watercolor. You could probably do some cool effects with the values to make it look like its actually dripping down.

  4. Wow. I'm in love with this piece! I really love the flowly/edgyness of your graffiti idea. It definitely gives your piece a pop and wow factor. If you plan on adding cool colors, I would suggest using a lighter shade so it doesn't bump head to head with the warm colors. You don't wanna take the focus away from the background.

  5. Water color would work well to make the buildings look distinct
